Earth's Insides Out: The Tablelands of Gros Morne, Newfoundland; 12 X 18 inches, watercolour

Flat-topped, orange rock of Earth's mantle that is normally buried deep under Earth's crust, is exposed at the surface in Newfoundland's spectacular Gros Morne National park. Rising nearly 300 metres, nothing grows on the orange rock due to the presence of toxic peridotite in the mantle rock.
